Vettel Wins in Bahrain Grand Prix
The eagerly awaited and much anticipated Bahrain Grand Prix concluded with Sebastian Vettel gaining first place.
The three time world champion convincingly won the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday 21st April, easily beating Lotus rivals Raikkonen and Grosjean. The former finished second, 9 seconds behind Vettel. Grosjean came in third finishing 20 seconds behind the winner.
It was a commanding performance by the German driver Vettel, who grabbed the lead in the 17th lap and never looked back. Critics are already calling it one of his best races to date.
While Vettel had the time of his life on the race track, it was certainly a day to forget for the folks at Ferrari, with both their drivers encountering mechanical problems. Fernando Alonso had to pit twice when his DRS system malfunctioned, whilst fellow driver Felipe Massa damaged a front wing in a collision with Force’ India’s Adrian Sutil. Both drivers finished 8th and 15th respectively.
There is still a long way until the seasons over but this sets it up to make a great year of racing. It must be noted that this is Vettel’s 28th career victory and only the 2nd this year. Will Vettel see the Championship home or is the best of Raikkonen yet to come?
The Abu Dhabi Formula 1 could very well be when we find out who the winner is.
